Red Sea Bannerfish

( Heniochus intermedius )

A yellow butterfly-fish with two vertical black stripes. Dorsal fin has a long white sail-like fore part. Back part of the fin and the tail are yellow. Size 20 cm. Lives in Red Sea only. All day long these fish slowly swim near one coral or over top of a coral. Redsea bannerfish is a plankton feeder, unlike many reef fish which bite corals and feed on each other.
